• HIDCO official files plaint against ‘fake website’ selling Alipore Museum e-tickets

  • Kolkata: Bidhannagar Cyber Crime Police Station on Sunday registered a case after a WBHIDCO official reported a suspected fake website allegedly allowing unauthorised ticket bookings for Alipore Museum, also known as Independence Museum, and mimicking the official portal. According to the complaint, Subhankar Dutta, system manager (IT) at WBHIDCO, approached the cyber cops on Jan 2 and submitted a written allegation that he discovered a fraudulent website during a routine inspection.

    The URL cited in the complaint is which, Dutta alleged, was used to facilitate online booking despite not being an authorised platform. Dutta stated that the official online booking for the museum is facilitated only through the Yatri Saathi app. He added the fake site was designed to resemble the official portal.

    Cops said Dutta provided screenshots of the website, along with details of the official ticket booking page. He said he bought a ticket from the suspected fake website for reference and verification, and preserved it as evidence.
