Molestation, assault horror for couple out on night drive

Kolkata: A 28-year-old youth from Banipur in Habra, out on a drive with his fiancée in his private car on Sunday night, was allegedly assaulted by a group of drunk youths on Jessore Road.
When their vehicle was caught in a traffic jam near Banbania at Ashoknagar in North 24-Parganas, one of the accused, identified as businessman Abhishek Dey alias Chand, and his aides allegedly picked up an argument with the couple, a senior police officer of the Ashoknagar Police Station (PS) said. The youths allegedly dragged the woman out of the car and attempted to molest her. When the victim, a private firm employee, protested, he was allegedly assaulted by the accused.
The youth, who suffered severe injuries, is undergoing treatment at Habra State General Hospital. Police launched raids to nab the accused after the woman lodged an FIR against five.
A senior officer of Barasat District Police confirmed that raids were on.
A few days back, police had arrested several persons in connection with alleged flesh trade from a hotel in Ashoknagar, which reportedly belongs to Chand.
