The Alipurduar Division of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has achieved a significant milestone in food safety and hygiene, with one railway station and three institutional facilities earning the prestigious Eat Right Station and Eat Right Campus certifications from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).
New Alipurduar railway station, located in Alipurduar district of West Bengal, has been awarded the Eat Right Station certification with an exemplary rating for the period from 4 December, 2025 to 3 December, 2027. The certification recognises the station’s strict compliance with FSSAI norms related to food safety, hygiene, sanitation, waste management and quality control at catering and food vending units.
In addition, three facilities under the Alipurduar Division have been certified as Eat Right Campuses for the period from 22 December, 2025 to 21 December 2027, all with exemplary ratings. These include the rail coach restaurants at RajabhatKhawa and the Rail Museum, Cooch Behar, as well as the Multi-Disciplinary Zonal Training Institute at Alipurduar Junction. Notably, these recognitions mark the first Eat Right Campus certifications across the entire NFR zone.
The rail coach restaurants have been recognised for providing safe, hygienic and quality food in a distinctive dining environment, enhancing visitor experience, while the training institute demonstrated strong adherence to prescribed food safety and hygiene standards.
“These certifications reflect NFR’s sustained efforts to ensure safe, hygienic and quality food services for passengers, visitors and staff. They also underline our commitment to national food safety goals and continuous improvement in passenger amenities,” said Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, Chief Public Relations Officer, NFR.
