Kolkata: The Election Commission received an action taken report from DGP Rajeev Kumar on an incident of heckling and attack on a special roll observer in South 24 Parganas. The commission had set a Tuesday deadline for the report.
The ECI-appointed special observer, C Murugan, an IAS officer, was at Magrahat reviewing and supervising hearing sessions on Dec 30 when people attacked his vehicle and personally heckled him.
Murugan sent a detailed report to the ECI's headquarters in New Delhi, and on Jan 3, the commission sought a report from the DGP.
An EC official said: "The ATR was received." He did not comment on its contents.
Murugan on Tuesday also visited multiple places in Joynagar and Sonarpur to take a first-hand stock of SIR hearings.
