• Knife attack, ‘gun threat’ in Karaya road rage cases

  • Kolkata: Two incidents of road rage were reported from Karaya area over 48 hours.

    Around 4 am on Thursday, a youth, Md Salman (24), a resident of Pearl Road, alleged his neighbour, Md Sharar Ali alias Manne (28), confronted him over the parking of his scooter and tried to kick the two-wheeler, claiming it obstructed his movement. A consequent argument was stopped by neighbours. Salman alleged later, he and a friend, Zilly, went out, when Ali appeared with a knife and a pair of scissors and attacked him, leading to multiple cuts on his bodyHe claimed Ali's intention was to kill him.

    In the other incident, which took place the day earlier, Nirmal Saha, driver of a bus on Route 37, claimed in the Park Circus area, a taxi came from the opposite direction and his bus got stuck as both vehicles faced each other. Saha alleged as they got into an argument, the cab driver pointed an object at him and ordered him to move aside. Saha alleged it was a firearm and reported it to cops.
