Kolkata: Srabani Roychowdhury (45), a voter who lives near Sinthi More under the Cossipore–Belgachhia Assembly constituency, faced extreme harassment during the hearing process on Thursday.
She had requested the hearing due to issues with her father's documents in the last SIR roll. She said, "My father passed away before 2002, and I got married in 2000. Although I voted, my name was not on the 2002 SIR list. On the 2002 SIR list, my maternal grandfather's name appears in place of my father's name. I was completely unaware of this. I presented all my old documents, and photocopies of everything were taken. We were asked to provide documents from before 2000 for me and my husband, but that is not possible because we got married in 2000."
"I stood in line from 10 am and it was completed at 6 pm. I have diabetes and had to run around all day without lunch. I have been suffering from knee pain since last night. If they had stated in advance what was required, it would not have been so difficult to arrange. I had to visit the photocopy centre multiple times," she added.
