Kolkata: The cold spell in Kolkata continues with both the night and day temperatures dipping marginally on Saturday. Though the biting chill is missing at present, Alipore weather officials said the cold spell would prevail for now with no indication of major mercury variation at least over the next week.
From 22.6°C on Friday, the maximum temperature dipped to 22°C on Saturday, while the minimum dipped from 12.1°C to 11.5°C. Both the day and night temperatures are expected to stay below normal for now. "We do not expect any significant variation in mercury levels for now. As both maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to remain below the normal mark, the city will continue to feel the cold," said an official at the Regional Meteorological Centre, Kolkata.
The Met office has predicted morning fog but a clear sky later. Maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover around 22°C and 12°C.
