Kolkata: A 55-year-old man who was injured in the illegal firecracker factory in Champahati on Friday died at MR Bangur Hospital on Sunday. Hospital sources said Gourhari Ganguly, from the Piyali area in Canning, suffered nearly 100% burn injuries in the blast. His condition had been critical since Friday night, and despite doctors' efforts, he died around 12.30 am on Sunday.
Of the three others injured, Kishan Adhikari is admitted to MR Bangur Hospital and is currently under close medical supervision; Biswajit Mondal and Rahul Pui were admitted to a private hospital near Panchasayar. Pui's condition is stated to be the most critica.
The owner of the illegal unit, Bidhan Naskar, is absconding. Cops said he did not possess any valid manufacturing licence. On Sunday, Baruipur police station IC Ardhendu De Sarkar visited the spot again. — Monotosh Chakraborty
