Pregnant woman’s marriage on rocks after ex-BF sends msgs, pics to hubby

Kolkata: Police have registered a case after the 24-year-old pregnant woman alleged that her former partner has sent obscene photographs and abusive messages to her husband through social media, triggering a serious marital dispute and threats of divorce.
According to the complaint, the woman said she had been in a relationship with the accused when she was 19, around 2020-21. She alleged that the relationship ended about three years ago and that there had been no contact since. She eventually married a 33-year-old man and said their family life had been peaceful until the recent communications.
In her written complaint to the OC of Cossipore Police Station, the woman alleged that on Nov 21 last year, her husband received an Instagram call from an unknown account. The caller allegedly introduced himself as the woman's former partner and made derogatory remarks about her to her husband. The complaint further alleged that on Dec 14, the same person sent "obscene photographs" of the woman to her husband via WhatsApp and Instagram, and made abusive comments directed at both the complainant and her husband.
She told cops the accused has continued sending messages and images since then and caused humiliation and distress, and "hurt her modesty". She also alleged that the communications led to escalating conflict at home. She claimed the dispute reached a point where her husband is seeking a divorce.
Investigators are examining the allegations. "We are treating this case seriously and will nab the accused," an officer said.
