India Post to release special philatelic cover commemorating Gangasagar Mela

The department of posts, West Bengal Circle, will be formally issuing a Special Philatelic Cover commemorating the Gangasagar Mela-2026.
The special cover will be released by Jitendra Gupta, Director General Postal Services, department of posts in a programme at Diamond Harbour on 14 January, day of Makar Sankranti.
The Gangasagar Mela, held annually at the confluence of the river Ganga and the Bay of Bengal, is one of India’s most significant spiritual gatherings, reaching its peak this year on the occasion of Makar Sankranti. To honour this cultural heritage and the millions of devotees participating in the 2026 pilgrimage, the department is launching this unique collector’s item featuring a special cancellation.
