Burdwan: Setting an example of professional integrity and dedication, two BLOs from East Burdwan — Deb Sankar Chatterjee (pic Left) of Ketugram II Block and SK Abid Hossain of Memari II Block — have served hearing notices on themselves. Both the BLOs are teachers by profession.
Chatterjee, a life science teacher at RGM Institution, serving as the BLO of Booth 165 at Bhramankol under Ketugram II Block. Although he is a permanent resident of the same booth area, he currently resides at Madhaitala Chourangi in Katwa. On Jan 10, Chatterjee delivered the ‘logical discrepancies' notice to his wife and personally uploaded her photograph. On Wednesday evening, he conducted his wife's hearing himself. Not only that, through the BLO App, he also learnt that his own hearing is scheduled for Jan 21.
Accordingly, he delivered the notice to himself and stated that he would upload his own photograph on Thursday. Chatterjee further said that despite proper delivery of the logistics notice to his wife, she was duly called for the hearing.
On the other hand, SK Abid Hossain, a teacher at Shahjadpur FP School, serves as the BLO of Part 266 under Memari II Block in the Monteshwar Assembly constituency. He is a resident of his own booth area and hails from Jhikra village in Memari II Block. Hossain said that on Jan 10, he delivered his own ‘logical discrepancies' notice and uploaded his photograph himself. His hearing is scheduled on Jan 16 at his own booth.
Explaining the reason for the discrepancy, Abid said that while his father's name is spelt as ‘Sekh MD Azim' in some records, it appears as ‘SK MD Azim' in his identity documents — a difference of two letters that led to the issue.
