Min hits back as Jhargram college gets donation demand for ‘Gita recital’

Jhargram: A college in Jhargram has received a donation demand of Rs 40,000 from a local outfit for a "Gita recital event", causing state minister Birbaha Hansda — the president of the college's governing committee — to react sharply.
Sources said the Sanatani Unity Forum had demanded a donation of Rs 40,000 from Manikpara Vivekananda Centenary College for a Hindu conference and a mass Gita recital. The event is scheduled to take place on Jan 27 in Manikpara. College authorities received the donation receipt on Friday.
Reacting to this, Hansda said, "Any programme can take place, but no one can demand donations from anyone, especially not from school or college authorities. The money from enrolled students cannot be given to an organisation in this manner."
