Kolkata: Calcutta High Court on Monday allowed Bharatpur MLA Humayun Kabir to seek security cover from the Union home ministry if he wished to do so, after the former Trinamool neta moved the HC recently, saying his life was under threat, reports Subrata Chattoraj. Justice Suvra Ghosh allowed the Kabir to make an appeal to the MHA with necessary papers and left it to the MHA to take a decision on his alleged threat perception within a fortnight.
The state's counsel told the HC that Bengal govt had already been providing security to the MLA at his house, and two constables were accompanying him throughout the day. Kabir's counsel pleaded that the petitioner wanted to seek MHA help for his security.
