East Midnapore: Assistant electoral registration officers (AEROs) and electoral registration officers (EROs), the officials sending summons for Special Intensive Revision (SIR) hearings across Bengal, have started receiving hearing summons themselves. AEROs, typically, are block development officers (BDOs) who take up the posts during elections.
Three AEROs from Jhargram and East Midnapore districts received summons for SIR hearings recently. In Jhargram, Sankrail BDO Abhishek Ghosh has received a notice to appear for an SIR hearing at the Domjur BDO's office on Jan 27 over an apparent mismatch in his father's name. Binpur-2 BDO Suman Ghosh was summoned as well.
In East Midnapore, Sheikh Wasim Reza, BDO and AERO of Naikuri block in Tamluk received an SIR-related notice on Sunday over a name mismatch.
