• Domestic help robs Posta trader

  • Kolkata: Yet another incident of theft by a domestic servant was reported in the city—this time in central Kolkata—with Posta PS registering a case on Jan 19, based on a written complaint alleging theft from a residence in Sikdarpara Lane.

    According to the FIR lodged by a 37-year-old trader residing at Posta, the accused—Pumpi Singh, residing at Madan Mohan Burman Street—stole ornaments and cash worth lakhs. The complainant alleged that the missing items included a costly mobile handset, some gold ornaments, one silver spoon, one silver glass, and cash amounting to Rs 4,000.

    The accused was also warned earlier about possible thefts, and the total loss was expected to rise.

    The complainant alleged that the theft occurred between the afternoon of Jan 14 and Jan 19, when the accused worked as a domestic help at the complainant's residence.
