Kolkata: Presidency University teachers wrote a letter to the vice-chancellor (VC) on Tuesday, urging the authorities to convene faculty council meetings at the earliest. The last meeting was held in April 2022.
"The faculty council meeting could not be convened due to the absence of deans in the arts and science faculties. The state govt is yet to form a search committee for the appointment of regular deans," a teacher said.
"Currently, several important matters remain pending due to the non-operation of the faculty council. This delay is adversely affecting the smooth functioning of academic processes," the teachers wrote. An official said the VC had entrusted the powers and functions of deans on two senior professors, who are currently acting as professors-in-charge for the faculty of arts and science. tnn
