Kolkata: Bharti Airtel, one of the leading telecommunications service providers in the country, has laid 1.3 km of fibre across the entire stretch of Vidyasagar Setu and deployed network antennae over six poles to ensure that users get seamless mobile connectivity while commuting between Kolkata and Howrah.
The project has been executed in collaboration with state govt, including the PWD, West Bengal Police Traffic Department, and Hooghly River Bridge Commissioners (HRBC), said Ayan Sarkar, CEO of Bharti Airtel, Bengal and Odisha. The company has deployed more than 5,250 new network sites across Bengal over the last three years. "Vidyasagar Setu is one of the city's busiest transport corridors, and uninterrupted connectivity here is critical, not just for commuters but also for emergency services, traffic management, and public safety," said Sarkar.
