Man steals 1.9L, gold & silver jewellery from own home, held

Kolkata: More than 45 days after a woman lodged a theft complaint, cops arrested her husband, Nazir Khan, after officers analysed CCTV footage near their home in Metiabruz on the day of the theft.
Sanno Khan (33), who lives on Mudiali Road, lodged a complaint at Metiabruz Police Station. Sanno alleged that an unknown person stole a gold chain, weighing about 15g, a pair of gold earrings, weighing around 7g, a pair of silver anklets, a silver glass, and Rs 1,92,000 on Dec 11. She said the incident occured between 12.45 pm and 2 pm and all the missing items were stored in the locker of an almirah in her house.
Police said that during the investigation, they analysed call detail records of Sanno and Nazir and reviewed CCTV footage from the area. Based on the findings, they zeroed in on Nazir and arrested him.
Police did not disclose where the arrest was made or whether any of the alleged stolen items was recovered or not. The investigation was on, and further legal action would follow according to procedure, police said.
