Kolkata: Bengal govt on Wednesday submitted before the Calcutta High Court that it would not take any coercive steps against leader of the opposition in Bengal assembly Suvendu Adhikari until Jan 28. The state had pressed criminal charges against Adhikari a day after he staged a dharna at Chandrakona PS after an attack on his convoy this month.
Justice Suvra Ghosh directed both Centre and the state to submit reports on the incident before the HC takes up the matter for the next hearing on Jan 27.
Senior counsel Billwadal Bhattacharya submitted that a report from the CRPF was necessary, as Adhikari gets Z-category security.
