Kolkata: Both flanks of Vidyasagar Setu will be closed to vehicular traffic for 16 hours between 5 am and 9 pm on Sunday for repair and rehabilitation work, including replacement of stay and holding-down cables and bearings, officials said. The closure follows a notification issued by Kolkata Police on Thursday.
Hooghly River Bridge Commissioners (HRBC) is undertaking an overhaul of the 33-year-old structure. HRBC engineers said additional traffic closures will be required before the rehabilitation is complete. Kolkata Police said traffic will be diverted through alternative routes during the closure. tnn
