Bankura: A BJP worker's shop and home were allegedly attacked on Wednesday night at Nandanpur village under the Nakajuri gram panchayat area of Onda, amid rising political tension ahead of the assembly elections.
Sources said Tapas Barik, head of the BJP's social media cell in the area, returned home late at night after attending a party conference. The miscreants allegedly vandalised and looted Barik's pharmacy located near his residence, causing extensive damage. They also allegedly targeted Barik's house, broke the lock on the front door, poured petrol outside, and set it on fire. Barik and his family reportedly escaped with the help of villagers.
Onda BJP MLA Amarnath Shakha alleged that Trinamool Congress-backed miscreants carried out the attack, and claimed the intent was to kill Barik and his family members.
