  • Kolkata: ED chief Rahul Navin, who had arrived in Kolkata on Thursday night, held a high-level meeting with senior officials of the central agency, including those who were involved in searches at the office of political consultancy firm I-PAC and the residence of its director Pratik Jain, on Friday. Navin's visit came on the heels of a tussle between the agency and the Bengal govt over the searches.

Sources in the ED said officials provided detailed status reports on the cases to Navin. Senior agency officials are likely to hold a meeting on Saturday to chart out the future course of action based on Navin's instructions. ED sources added that cases related to illegal coal and sand mining as well as municipal cash-for-jobs were discussed.

ED had earlier moved the Calcutta HC and the SC over the I-PAC searches, where it had alleged that the state police had obstructed agency officials and had called the "interference" to be in "flagrant and blatant disregard to law".
