• Bengal assembly session deferred to Feb 3 for SIR

  • Kolkata: Bengal assembly's vote-on-account session will begin on Feb 3 instead of Jan 31 as MLAs are currently engaged in the SIR process, speaker Biman Banerjee said on Tuesday. Bengal govt is likely to present its election year budget during the session.

    The vote-on-account will be tabled on Feb 5 by finance minister Chandrima Bhattacharya, while governor C V Ananda Bose will address the House during the session, Banerjee said. Parliamentary affairs minister Sobhandeb Chattopadhyay is likely to move a motion related to the SIR.
