• Believe it ot not: You can eat junk, stay up to watch TV and live upto 101
    Times of India | 28 January 2026
  • Staying up till 2am binge-watching TV and snacking whenever the mood strikes sounds like the perfect Friday night. But for 101-year-old Jiang Yueqin, it’s just… life. The Chinese grandmother has gone viral for her late-night routine, natural sleep cycle and surprisingly robust health — all her teeth intact, no rigid schedules in sight. Her secret? Strong tea, calm nerves and never holding a grudge.

Who said snacks are bad for you?

Despite her age, Jiang still enjoys snacks, stays active and has all her own teeth. Her favourite snack is a local Wenzhou delicacy called Matisong, a crispy pastry made from water chestnut. Her family credits her longevity not just to eating and sleeping well, but to her calm mindset — no anger, no grudges, and embracing life as it comes.

    Routine reversal

Jiang wakes naturally around 10 am after late-night TV sessions, then starts her day with a strong cup of green tea. She now enjoys brunch, followed by dinner around 6pm, and if she feels hungry again around 9pm, she snacks on biscuits. Her daughter says her excellent sleep quality means she can literally fall asleep “within minutes.”

It’s all in the mind, say netizens

Jiang’s lifestyle has sparked online chatter about mental wellbeing and ageing. What seems to be badi, and lambi zindagi hacks is peace of mind. Commenters credited her long life to “a positive mindset,” “family harmony,” and an ability to “go with the flow” — fix what you can, ignore what you can’t, and sleep well through the rest.
