Kolkata: Anandapur police arrested two persons on Wednesday in separate cases of rape in connection with allegations that two women were sexually exploited after being promised marriage.
In a case registered on Jan 1, a 20-year-old woman alleged Md Taslim (22) from Tiljala Shibtala Lane befriended her on social media, promised to marry her, and sexually exploited her multiple times between 7.30 pm on Dec 28 and noon on Dec 30, 2025, at a hotel in Uttar Panchanna Gram.
The accused was on the run before being nabbed around 2.05 am.
In the other case, registered on Jan 11, a 38-year-old woman alleged that Sadiqe Hossain befriended her on a dating app and they had sexual intercourse on multiple occasions between 2024 and 2026 after he promised to marry her. She further alleged the accused abused her using filthy language. The complainant said the alleged incidents took place at her residence. The accused was on the run before being nabbed at 1.35 am.
