BJP Maha candidate to apply for name deletion from Dubrajpur: EC

Kolkata: The Election Commission during a fact check has spotted that BJP neta Ujjwala Appa Brungale, who along with her husband Appa Shankar Brungale, are residents of Dubrajpur for over 10 years, had her name both at Dubrajpur of Birbhum and in Sangila of Maharashtra.
She had applied in the enumeration form for enrolling as a voter in the Dubrajpur assembly seat. The EC tweeted that on inquiry, it was found that she had her name enrolled in the Sangila assembly seat, too. The Election Commission's tweet said that Ujjwala had given an undertaking that she would be having her name at Sangila and would apply for deleting her name from Dubrajpur.
Earlier the Trinamool Congress had flagged the issue that Ujjwala, being a BJP candidate in the Sangila zilla parishad election, was also having her name at Dubrajpur, thus the entire exercise of SIR was pointless, as people were having their names in the rolls of two assemblies.
She had even participated in the SIR hearing at Dubrajpur, which was also highlighted by Trinamool Congress.
However, her husband Appa Shankar Brungale claimed that his wife had withdrawn her candidature. Ujjwala could not be contacted for comments.
