New Mkt shoe seller attacks customer during price row

Kolkata: New Market Police registered a case after a 33-year-old man alleged he was assaulted with an iron rod by a shoe hawker following an argument over prices on Market Street on Wednesday.
The complainant, Md Irfan Khan a resident of Mirza Galib Street, said the incident occurred around 5.25 pmnear 25, Market Street, an area known for street-side shoe stalls. According to the complaint, Khan got into an argument with shoe hawker Md Shafi, during which Shafi struck Khan with an iron rod, causing a head injury. Khan said his mother Kausari Khatoon, and a friend Ameen Khatoon, were present at the spot at the time of the assault.
A case was registered at New Market PS under Section 118(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), police said. An investigation is underway.
Investigators said Khan was taken to Medical College Hospital, where he received treatment for his injuries and was later discharged.
