Bombs hurled, bullets fly, and stones pelted as two groups clash over control in Kolkata's Kankulia; 2 injured, several vehicles damaged

KOLKATA: Bombs were hurled, bullets fired and stones pelted as two rival groups clashed on Kankulia Road in the Golpark area around 8.30 pm on Sunday, leaving at least two injured.
Several cars and bikes were vandalised, and the windscreen of a police vehicle was damaged. None was arrested till late Sunday.
According to locals, over 100 youths, allegedly led by criminal Sona Pappu, stormed a settlement and attacked resident Bappi Haldar and his supporters, who retaliated.
Locals said the violence was orchestrated by Sona Pappu in an attempt to establish control over the area. TMC councillor Baiswanar Chattopadhyay said the unrest stemmed from a dispute related to a picnic.
