  • Malda: The bodies of his wife and baby boy lay in the cold of a hospital morgue, waiting for a handful of dust, while madrassa teacher Md Yeasin Ansari stood in the queue for SIR hearing on Friday. reports Subhro Maitra. The 28-year-old Ansari could mourn for his family and bury them only after the hearing was done.

    On Thursday evening, Ansari, who lived with his wife Halima and their nine-month-old son Arif in a rented home in Sujapur where he worked at a madrassa, left for his family home in Gazole.

    Ansari received an EC notice recently regarding a discrepancy in his surname and was required to attend a hearing in Gazole on Friday.

    At Susthani More in English Bazar, the e-rickshaw the family was on overturned. Halima died on the spot, while Arif was rushed to Malda Medical College and Hospital, where he died. Ansari survived the crash and on Friday morning, as the bodies awaited postmortem, left for Gazole for the hearing.

    In Gazole, Ansari's brother-in-law Akhtar Hossain told TOI: "There was no actual discrepancy in his records. "
