Kolkata: Kolkata turned chilly on Saturday even as the minimum temperature dropped by a degree to 14.4° Celsius. With northwesterly winds flowing in at a fair speed, the chill will persist for the next 48 hours at least, said the Met office.
While Kolkata recorded a maximum temperature of 26.2°C on Saturday, it could slide to 26°C on Sunday. The minimum, too, could slide marginally to 14°C. "Since the chilly northwesterly is flowing in, the chill will continue for the next two to three days. The mercury will start crawling up from Monday. It will be a gradual climb. We can expect the minimum to touch 16°C by Thursday, said deputy director general of meteorology HR Biswas.
