Kolkata: As this year's Higher Secondary examinations required more manpower to conduct 3 types of exams, govt officials appointed as centre-in-charge for 2,103 centres were released by the Election Commission.
This was discussed at a meeting held on Tuesday by the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education with the conveners and joint conveners of all districts to review preparedness for the exams starting on Thursday. After the meeting, Council president Chiranjib Bhattacharjee said that all arrangements were made, as reported by the district inspectors.
The centre-in-charge plays a vital role in the distribution of confidential examination materials, but many are currently performing duties as AEROs for the SIR process.
A council official said, "We were assured that all these officials will remain free on the exam days to perform examination duties."
During the Madhyamik examinations, the education department made alternative arrangements to assign centre-in-charge across venues.
