Kolkata: A 78-year-old resident of Salt Lake's HA Block has alleged he lost a large sum of money in an investment fraud between Oct 31, 2025 and Jan 2026. Though the FIR mentions he lost Rs 51.7 lakh, the victim, in his written complaint, requested police to recover Rs 4.8 crore, which, he said he should "rightfully get back". Bidhannagar City Police's cyber cell is probing the case.
Police said a written complaint was received on Feb 10, and a case was registered. The victim said he was cheated through an online trading platform called "Naka Solutions".
According to the victim, he was contacted on Oct 31, 2025, by a woman who introduced him to the platform's website and asked him to make a deposit of Rs 16,000. He was then connected to people who claimed to be financial advisers and communicated through Indian and UK numbers. The victim said he was given a "code" for trading and was persuaded to invest more. He said the accused demanded payments on various pretexts.When he tried to withdraw his funds, they demanded more, and he refused to pay.
Cops said he lodged a grievance on the national cybercrime reporting portal before coming to local cops.
