  • Kolkata: The Calcutta High Court's Jalpaiguri Circuit Bench on Monday directed Bengal to file an affidavit stating that alleged encroachers had been removed from Ananda Marga Pracaraka Samgha's primary school in Cooch Behar, after the Samgha denied the state's removal claims.

Ananda Marga moved the bench of Justice Suvra Ghosh, stating that some outsiders were disturbing the running of the school in Gopal Nagar. It was alleged that the accused had encroached on a portion of the school.

The Samgha filed a complaint with state authorities but claimed on Feb 6 that no action had been taken. State govt on Feb 9 informed Justice Ghosh that the state had submitted that the alleged encroachment had been removed by police.

"Since the counsel for the state submits that the alleged encroachment was removed, an affidavit be sworn by the state in this regard," Justice Ghosh directed.
