Kolkata: With life science paper on Wednesday, major papers of Madhyamik ended with only optional papers left for Thursday, the last day of the state board Class X exam.
The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education has over the past week barred 51 candidates from this year's Madhyamik exams after they were caught with mobiles in exam halls.
A board official said in the mobiles seized on Wednesday, they found several messages, suggesting the candidates' families were aware of them carrying the phones into exam halls and that at least five phones indicated those were planned attempt at cheating.
Among those barred were candidates in Hooghly, East and West Burdwan.
A toy gun was found in a candidate's bag at Udaypalli Shiksha Niketan High School in Burdwan Town. Police said they confiscated the toy and allowed the student to sit for the exam.
