  • In a significant step towards strengthening railway infrastructure and enhancing operational safety, the Asansol Division of Eastern Railway has successfully completed the replacement of the old girder at Bridge No. 12, situated between Jagadishpur and Maheshmunda stations on the Madhupur–Giridih section, on Thursday. The work was executed with precision and meticulous planning, ensuring safe and uninterrupted train operations.

The bridge, originally constructed in 1906, had a 3 x 18.3-metre riveted girder, which has now been replaced with a stronger and more durable 3 x 18.3-metre welded plate girder using modern engineering techniques. The replacement was carried out efficiently with the support of two road cranes under a well-coordinated traffic and power block of 7 hours and 35 minutes, ensuring safe execution with minimal impact on train movement and passenger convenience.

This vital infrastructure upgrade has significantly enhanced the structural strength and load-carrying capacity of the bridge, ensuring safer and more dependable train operations on this important rail section. The successful completion of this technically demanding project reflects the high standards of planning, coordination and engineering excellence maintained by the Asansol Division.

Through continuous monitoring, timely maintenance and systematic modernisation of railway infrastructure, the division is ensuring safe, smooth, punctual and passenger-friendly train services, further strengthening reliability and public confidence in railway operations.
