Stakeholders discuss higher egg and chicken production at poultry fair

Swapan Debnath, state minister for animal resources development department inaugurated the three-day 12th Kolkata International Poultry Fair, 2026 at the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre.
Pradip Mazumdar, state minister for panchayat and rural development was the chief guest. Mr Biplab Roy Chowdhury, state fisheries minister, Birbaha Hansda, state forest minister also attended the fair.
Mr Debnath said the state government has taken elaborate measures to ensure that West Bengal becomes self-sufficient in egg production. An international seminar titled Novacom 2026 was held on 10 February where speakers from the industry discuss participation of the youths in the poultry sector, the upgradation of the sector and enhancing the production of chicken.
The event witnessed participation from policymakers, members of the Pan India Broiler Coordination Committee, representatives of the Eastern India Poultry Development Forum.
The conference came to an end today. A spokesperson said meaningful discussions had taken place and investors showed interest to invest in the area. The production of egg and chicken can be enhanced by following scientific methods, he said.
