  • Kolkata: Kolkata Police revised the jurisdictional boundaries of three police stations for the second time in three months, expanding the areas under Ekbalpore and Watgunge police stations and reducing that of Alipore PS. CP Supratim Sarkar approved the move.

A directive on Wednesday returned several places, which moved to Alipore in Nov, back to their earlier police stations. Parts of Sudhir Basu Road, M M Ali Road, Bhukailash Road, Ibrahim Ali Road and Ekbalpore Road were reassigned to Ekbalpore PS and Fancy Market, Monsatala Lane, Monsatala Row, Harisabha Street, Kidderpore Road and parts of D H Road were reassigned to Watgunge PS. In Nov, these areas were placed under Alipore PS as part of a wider reshuffle that also altered the boundaries of New Market and Park Street PSs. Lalbazar then expanded Alipore and Park Street jurisdictions and curtailed that of New Market, Watgunge and Ekbalpore PSs. The move came after residents reported difficulties in accessing Alipore PS, given the distance.

The new order has also transferred the area around the Ekbalpore PS building from Alipore back to Ekbalpore.
