Kolkata: CPM state committee member Pratik Ur Rahaman, who sought the party's permission to be relieved from primary membership, is not likely to attend the state committee meeting starting Thursday, reports Rohit Khanna.
On Tuesday, Left Front chairman Biman Bose called on Rahaman and asked him to reconsider. "I received calls from party workers and colleagues asking me to reconsider the decision. But I have doubts over the confidentiality of the discussion," Rahaman said. He is yet to receive any message from CPM state secretary Md Salim.
On Wednesday, the state secretariat met at the party's Alimuddin Street office. Sources said Rahaman's resignation letter did not feature in the discussions. Rahaman said he might not attend Thursday's state committee meeting. "I don't know whether the party accepted or turned down my plea. How can I go to the meeting when the competent authority did not respond? There is no question of going to the meeting until the state secretary responds," said Rahaman.
