Kolkata: Calcutta High Court on Monday directed the West Bengal Central School Service Commission (WBCSSC) to disclose amount of money collected from candidates of second State Level School Test (SLST) for objections raised to the preliminary answer keys.
Around 67 candidates in one petition and 64 in another had moved the bench of Justice Amrita Sinha raising contentions over answer keys published by the commission in certain subjects. In case of 67 candidates, questions were raised on Education subjects.
During the hearing, questions were raised on charging of Rs 100 per objection to an answer key raised by a candidate. Candidates' counsel submitted that this was not under any rule. It was contended that this was done to discourage candidates appearing for assistant teacher's post from raising objections.
Justice Sinha directed WBCSSC to file a report in 4 weeks stating the number of candidates participating in tests for IX-X and XI-XII, number of candidates who raised objections and the quantum of money collected from the candidates on account of objections raised by them, amount refunded after their objection was found sustainable. The report will also specify whether there is any restriction to raising objections to the answers published by the commission.
The commission's counsel contended they refunded the amount where genuine objection was raised. He argued that not all candidates who moved court had raised objections.
