• Five labourers electrocuted at stone factory in Dinhata

  • Dinhata: Five labourers died due to electrocution at a stone factory near Sahebganj cold storage in Dinhata on Sunday evening. Another person is undergoing treatment at Dinhata Hospital.

    The incident occurred when labourers were moving a mixture machine at the factory, which started a few months ago near Balarampur Road cold storage. While pulling the machine, the lift hit an overhead electric wire, killing four on the spot. Another was seriously injured and died after being brought to the hospital.

    The deceased are Mukul Burman, Raju Sen, Sanjay Burman, Mithun Pal and Suman. Deepak Sen was brought to the hospital in critical condition and died shortly after. All victims were from various areas of Dinhata.

    An office room had already been built at the factory, and casting work for another room was scheduled for Monday. The machine was being set up for that work when the accident occurred.

    Police rushed to the spot on receiving information, and the deceased were brought to Dinhata Hospital one by one.
