Two auto routes extended for Beleghata Metro passengers

Kolkata: Two auto routes have been extended from Beleghata Metro Station, addressing a long-pending demand from residents who faced inadequate transport options.
This will allow commuters to travel directly by auto from Dhapa-Mathpukur, closer to the station, to RG Kar Hospital, improving access to outpatient services and reducing dependence on overcrowded facilities elsewhere. The second route will help commuters reach Ultadanga railway station from Metropolitan without having to travel via EM Bypass to board a bus.
The inauguration of the service was held recently in the presence of KMC mayor-in-council members Swapan Samaddar and Jeevan Saha. The Metropolitan–Ultadanga service runs via Canal South Road, Bajrangbali Temple, Gagan Sarkar Road, Beleghata Main Road, Alochhaya, Raja Rajendralal Mitra Road, Phoolbagan and Kankurgachhi before terminating at Ultadanga Station. The second route, earlier operating between RG Kar Hospital and ID Hospital, was extended to Dhapa-Mathpukur. From Mathpukur, it goes through DC Dey Road, Mathurbabu Lane, Bastuhara School, Canal South Road, Bajrangbali Temple, Gagan Sarkar Road, CIT More, Phoolbagan, Kankurgachi, Maniktala and Raja Dinendra Street before reaching RG Kar Hospital.
Councillor Jeevan Saha said the new routes improve access across crossings for residents from interior pockets of Metropolitan and Beleghata.
