  • Kulti: At least 12 persons, including a police sub-inspector, were injured in a clash that broke out during Holi celebrations at Karimdangal in Kulti on Wednesday, reports Mohammad Asif.

    According to locals, a group of 10 to 12 youths were heading to bathe after playing Holi when an altercation erupted as they passed a mosque while playing music. Some residents alleged that the mosque gate was struck with sticks. When locals protested, the argument escalated into a physical confrontations between the two groups. Police reached the spot after receiving information and attempted to bring the situation under control. A sub-inspector sustained injuries during the intervention. Authorities also said that CCTV cameras installed in the area were vandalised, allegedly to prevent the identification of those involved.

    Police urged both sides to file formal complaints, but no written complaint had been lodged at the time of reporting, sources said. A large police contingent was deployed in the area, and a route march was conducted to restore normalcy. Additional forces have been stationed, and a temporary police picket set up for the next few days. No arrests have been reported so far.
