Kolkata: What was meant to be a happy celebration turned into a scene of embarrassment, followed by legal action, after a prominent banquet hall in New Town allegedly stopped serving food midway through a wedding reception.
The groom filed a plaint against the management of the hall near Akansha crossing, leading to a criminal case being registered at Eco Park PS. He alleged that the administration of the banquet not only misbehaved with his family and him, but also manhandled him when he tried to protest.
According to the plaint, the arrangements at the venue were finalised for 510 guests at a cost of Rs 5,76,000. Despite the family paying in full, the festivities took a disastrous turn during the event on March 4. The groom alleged that after 190-200 guests were served, they stopped serving food. When the family approached the owner, his staff allegedly harassed the wedding party and manhandled the groom.
