CEO greets CEC at airport, says EC will put out supp lists of voters under adjudication

Kolkata: Chief election commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar was greeted by Bengal chief electoral officer (CEO) Manoj Agarwal at the Kolkata airport on Sunday and by protesters when he and the other election commissioners arrived at the New Town hotel where the EC full bench will be staying.
Speaking to the media at the airport, Agarwal said the Election Commission will publish a supplementary list of voters currently under adjudication, following Supreme Court guidelines.
He added that a Calcutta High Court committee will determine the frequency of the publication of these lists, and whether that would happen on a weekly, 10-day or fortnightly basis.
The subject is expected to come up in the CEO's discussions with the CEC because approximately 60 lakh voters have their voting status under adjudication. Agarwal said the CEC was well informed about the developments in the process.
When Kumar accompanied by election commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi were about to enter their hotel, several individuals were standing outside the hotel holding placards and wearing t-shirts that said: "Gyanesh Kumar go back". However, a heavy police cordon escorted the bench safely into the hotel.
Over the next few days, the CEC is scheduled to meet representatives of recognised political parties and review law and order issues, including district-wise data of historical electoral violence.
Kumar is also expected to visit the Kalighat temple and Victoria Memorial on Monday and Belur Math on Tuesday.
Kumar and the other election commissioners will also hold meetings with enforcement agencies.
