  • Kolkata: Two cases of investment fraud, worth around Rs 57 lakh, were reported from the Bowbazar and Parnasree areas in the past 24 hours.

    In the first instance, Bowbazar Police registered a case after a financial consultant (53) who operates an office at Ganesh Chandra Avenue in central Kolkata, alleged he was cheated of Rs 50 lakh in an investment scheme that promised unusually high returns within a short time, according to an enquiry report.

    In the second incident, another Kolkata resident filed a written complaint alleging he was cheated of Rs 6.90 lakh through a series of payments made between March and April 2025 after being told the money was needed for a family medical emergency. TNN
