• Cheers & colours mark Kol school’s sports day

  • Kolkata: The NKDA Football Stadium echoed with cheers as Calcutta Public School, Baguiati, celebrated its annual sports day. Students, teachers, and parents turned up in large numbers to enjoy a spirited day of competition, teamwork and enthusiasm.

    The event opened by felicitating the dignitaries present on that day. Chairman Bhogendra Jha inaugurated the day with an encouraging speech on the importance of sports. It was followed by the speech of the secretary Vikash Jha, who through his speech instilled in students the importance of physical fitness. MLA Tapash Chatterjee shared few encouraging words with the students. The guests of honour, Debraj Chakrabarty and Arnab Chatterjee addressed the children encouraging them to balance academics with sports for overall development.

    Students who had excelled in the in ICSE and ISC examinations, and had brought medals in CISCE sports events were felicitated. The programme commenced with a march past by the four houses, followed by the hoisting of the national flag and the school flag. Cultural and fitness displays added charm to the programme. Dressed in vibrant attires, the students demonstrated discipline, timing and coordination as they performed a series of synchronized movements.

    A series of athletic events kept the audience engaged throughout the day. From fast-paced races to the field events, students showcased their stamina and skills. The sports day concluded with a prize distribution ceremony and words of appreciation from the school authorities.
