Kolkata: A contractual conductor with WBTC returned a misplaced backpack containing Rs 60,000 cash to a passenger on Monday. The conductor, Arunava Sarkar, has been serving the department for seven years.
On Monday afternoon, a Burdwan resident returning from Chennai after treatment boarded an AC-37C bus with his son at the airport. While disembarking at airport Gate 2, the duo forgot the bag. On realising the loss, they informed the airport bus stand's official in charge, Sujit Mallick, who identified the specific vehicle and contacted Sarkar.
Since the bus was well on its way to Garia, Sarkar kept the bag with him till the vehicle concluded it's cross-city journey. He handed it to the passenger at the airport in the evening.
