Kolkata: BJP candidates and brothers Suvendu Adhikari (contesting from Nandigram and Bhowanipore) and Dibyendu Adhikari (fielded from Egra) received relief from Calcutta HC on Monday in two separate cases.
Justice Ajoy Kumar Mukherjee granted interim protection to Suvendu for 12 weeks in connection with an FIR over allegations of making objectionable remarks.
Meanwhile, Suvendu's brother Dibyendu received his no-due certificate. He had moved the bench of Justice Krishna Rao on March 10, stating that despite vacating govt property, he had not been issued the certificate. The state informed the court that the certificate had been issued on March 19 and was in transit.
