• BJP announces five more candidates from Hooghly in third list

  • The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has released its third list of candidates for the West Bengal Assembly elections, naming five nominees from Hooghly district.

    Former commando Dipanjan Chakraborty has been fielded from Uttarpara. He will face Trinamul Congress (TMC) candidate Sirsanya Banerjee, son of Serampore MP Kalyan Banerjee.

    In Singur, the BJP has nominated Arup Kumar Das, who will contest against TMC candidate Becharam Manna. From Haripal, the BJP candidate is Madhumita Ghosh, pitted against TMC’s Dr Karabi Manna.

    Dipanjan Guha has been nominated by the BJP from Chandannagar and will face TMC candidate Indranil Sen. In Chinsurah, veteran BJP leader Subir Nag will contest against TMC’s Debangshu Bhattacharya.

    These nominations form part of the BJP’s third list of 19 candidates, as the party moves towards finalising its slate for the 294-seat West Bengal Assembly elections.
