• Green starts bowling at KKR nets

  • Kolkata: In a major relief to Kolkata Knight Riders team management, Cameron Green was seen bowling at the nets during the team's practice session at the Eden Gardens on Saturday. The lanky Australian all-rounder bowled three overs at his full run-up under the watchful eyes of KKR support staff. This is the first time that he rolled his arms after joining his new franchise.

Skipper Ajinkya Rahane had admitted that the team's combination had taken a hit since Green, recovering from a back injury, has been barred from bowling by Cricket Australia. "We have to look at the combination bowling-wise," Rahane stated after losing to Sunrisers Hyderabad in the last match. "As our bowlers are very inexperienced, we need that extra bowler to cushion the team," he had reasoned.

However, it's unlikely that IPL's biggest buy of the season will be bowling against Punjab Kings on Monday.

Meanwhile in another interesting update, KKR's Sri Lankan pacer Matheesha Pathirana is recovering fast from a calf injury that he sustained during the T20 World Cup. The pacer posting "almost there" in social media raises hopes of him joining the KKR squad soon.
